How to Set Print Area in Google Sheets

Google Sheets is a great spreadsheet application alternative to Microsoft Excel. If used correctly, it can make data analysis quick and easy. One of the key features you need to understand is how to set the print area for your sheets.

By default, Google Sheets will print the entire spreadsheet, but that can be a nightmare if you do it by mistake!

This article will show you how to set the print area and only print the area you want to.

How to Set the Print Area in Google Sheets on a PC

PCs have plenty of advantages over other options for Google Sheets.

Firstly, a PC offers a larger screen to input data into, making using various Google Sheets commands quick and easy.

However, the best thing is that there are many more printing options on PC than on mobile. You can print an entire workbook, a current sheet, or a couple of cells.

Setting the Current Sheet or Workbook as the Print Area.

If you would instead print everything on your worksheet, follow these steps:

Open your worksheet.
Select the print button from the top left-hand corner of your menu bar. This action will open the print settings window, previewing your sheet.

From the top right-hand corner of your print settings window, you will notice a greyed-out print button and a down arrow alongside it. Select that arrow and choose Current Sheet.
Select Next.
A new window will show up from here, allowing you to change your print area and how many copies you print.
Once you are happy with your customized area, select Print.

There might be times when you want to print one particular part of your worksheet. Here's how to do this.

Open up the worksheet you want to print.
Choose the cells you want to print.
Select the printer icon button in the menu bar's top left-hand corner.
Select the down arrow next to the Print button in the top right-hand corner.
Choose Selected Cells.
Hit the Next button to customize your print area and then print.

How to Set the Print Area in Google Sheets on the Android App

The Android Google Sheets App is great for many things, such as editing or viewing your document without an internet connection.

However, you cannot customize the print area on the Google Sheets Android app. You do still have some control, though. You can adjust the print settings like paper orientation, paper size, and which pages you want to print.

Open your Google Sheets app.
Select the spreadsheet you want to press More.
Choose Share & Export, then choose Print.
Select the Paper Size and adjust print settings.
Select your printer.
Hit the print button.

How to Set the Print Area in Google Sheets on the iPhone App

The Google Sheets app is highly convenient and easy to use, as expected from an iPad app. You have the power to access your work whenever and wherever you want!

However, you cannot print selected cells in the Google Sheets Android or Apple app. You can still print the entire sheet, though. Here's how.

Open your Google Sheets app.
Select the file you want to print and tap the More button.
Choose Share & Export and select Print.
Follow the instructions and pick your printer.
Change the printer settings and choose how many copies you want to print.
Press the Print button, and the file will start printing.
