Inside Our Manufacturing KPI
Excel and Google Sheets Template
Every business has a few indicators it hones in on to analyze its health. Measuring and tracking these signals over time can help root out issues occuring on the ground floor. Our Manufacturing KPI Excel Templates is designed to track the efficiency of defects, costs, product plans and operating rates of your manufacturing. This spreadsheet is built with dynamic formatting, charts and slicers as well as a dashboard to view your most important metrics.
If you find this template useful, you may also want to check out other tools in our library for improving your manufacturing efficiency like Check Sheet, Product Quality Control and Warehouse Management System templates.
Let’s dive into how to use this template.
Start by recording your manufacturing standards in the Database sheet. Fields include Product Name, Cycle Time, Workers Required, Defect Cost Per Item, Shifts, Working Hours, Failure Root Causes, Operating Lines and Utilization Cost Per Line. Your inputs will be used as drop-down lists in other sheets to streamline your use of this template.
Move to the Raw Data sheet where you will record daily or periodic manufacturing data in the blank white columns. Fields include Date, Shift, Line, Product, Actual Run Time, Planned Downtime, Failure Root Causes, Ok Quantity, Defect Quantity, and Breakdowns. Grey columns are protected because they contain formulas and will calculate automatically based on your data.
Hop over to the Dashboard sheet. In the top left hand corner is a Refresh Data button. Get in the habit of clicking that as it will pull your most recent entries from the Raw Data sheet. The Dashboard highlights your most important metrics related to manufacturing such as Plan Achievement % vs Total Approved Units, Failure Root Causes Analysis pie chart, OEE Analysis bar chart and Time Analysis histogram. Dynamic slicers allow for segmenting your data by Line, Shift, Product, Failure Root Cause and Date.

Finally, the Manufacturing Calculator sheet allows you to calculate key metrics from Shift Start, Shift End, Planned Downtime, Planned Uptime, Breakdowns, Ideal Cycle Time, Total Quality Approved Parts and Total Scrap. The Total Production, UPH, Capacity, Availability, Performance, Quality, MTTR, MTBF and OEE will automatically calculate.
This is one of our most popular templates as it helps you focus on what matters most to your manufacturing department.
