It’s hard to be successful without having a firm grasp on the good, the bad and the ugly of your company. Smart managers slow down once in a while and take inventory of those things so they can improve upon them and strike the iron when it’s hot. Our SWOT Analysis Excel Template makes it easy for you to run Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats Analysis in a matrix that is easily customizable.
One of the best parts of this kind of analysis is how basic yet impactful it is in helping you uncover things you might know about the state of your company, but haven’t put on paper or communicated.
Before we dive into our SWOT template, you may like a few of our other templates designed for managers and strategists like our Balanced Scorecard, Business Risk Analysis and KPI Management templates. As with this template, these spreadsheets will enable you to better identify the most crucial parts of your business.
On the left hand side of the SWOT Analysis sheet is a table titled SWOT Data.
Record your issues according to the appropriate category (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats). In the Grade column (row B) rank the strength of each issue on a 1-5 scale.
As with all of our templates, they are pre-built and designed to automate your work so you don’t have to fiddle with formulas or template design. This one is no different as the SWOT Table and SWOT Analysis configure automatically based on your inputs.
Move over to the SWOT Competitive Matrix sheet. All of your points from the previous sheet will populate. There are five columns you can use to rank your competitors in the same categories. Simply, click on the placeholder text that says Competitor 1 and replace it with the name of the competitor you want to grade your company against.
In Column K is the Action Plan / Innovation Plan section in which you can take notes and record an action plan to improve on each point.
Want to restart or run a SWOT on a different business? Easy enough. Click the Clear Data button in the SWOT Analysis sheet. Delivering a presentation and want to make it Full Screen? Just click the Full Screen button right next to the Clear Data button.
